What is this strange creature? Can you tell us what it is?

Mike Wise, IdeaStar’s Vice President of Insurance Technologies, spotted this bird recently while attending an insurance conference in Florida. Since IdeaStar is Cleveland-based, the bird looked pretty strange to Mike. He thought it might be a swan, but obviously not.
We could look it up in a book, or even on the Internet. But we’d really like to hear from you. Click the comments tag below if you know what kind of bird this is.

It looks like a Crane (maybe a Whooping Crane). My parents have a lake behind their house and there is one bird like this that occasionally visits (I guess he makes easy friends with canadian geese).
I don’t know if we ever figured out what that bird was though… maybe a Heron?

It’s a Florida Crane! Heron’s fly with their neck bent so their head is close to their body. Crane’s fly with their neck streched out like a goose. Maybe thats why the geese in your parents lake allow these guys to hang out with them.
See here!
What do I win? Any more bird trivia?

What do you win? How about a pet Florida Crane? It can keep you company at work.
