Better Bulbs and a Big Building

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 24, 2007
IdeaStar client Technical Consumer Products Inc. (or TCP for short) recently dedicated its new 154,000-square-foot global headquarters, based in Aurora, OH.

The company’s better ideas for energy-efficient lighting have resulted in exponential growth. TCP is the leading supplier of compact fluorescent light bulbs - including this 8,000-watter.

Company President & CEO Ellis Yan (left) and Aurora Mayor Lynn McGill (right) cut the ribbon, officially dedicating the new building. “Thomas Edision never thought a little guy with a better light bulb would take over the lighting business,” Ellis said before cutting the ribbon. “This is not just a business. This is for future generations, to help the environment, and to keep things green.”

So congratulations to TCP for work well done. We look forward to watching you grow even more. IdeaStar designed and developed the company’s Web site. We provide support for the company’s online marketing efforts, including the Help Our World (H.O.W) video blog.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 18, 2007

By Andi Hoppes, IdeaStar marketing assistant

The time has come once again to play the IdeaStar employee guessing game!

This cute little lady was ready to pose for her kindergarten picture. Always the fashionista, she insisted on wearing her undershirt over her turtleneck for her photo. Her favorite subject was always art. She showed off her skills when she was the first one in her class to color INSIDE the lines, and she was very proud of this accomplishment!

Her teacher was Mrs. Fetchick, who had a “flip” bob hairdo that she always thought she kept in place with Elmers School Glue.

Take your best guess as to who this future IdeaStar employee is by leaving a comment below! Good Luck! :)

A Few Plates, Bowls, Cups and a Lot of Best Wishes

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 14, 2007

IdeaStar Web developer Ben Schemmel married Jessica this past weekend. But a few days before, we had a little celebration.

We’re sure Ben and Jessica appreciate the place settings the staff gave to them.

Maung Htun was happy to have a reason to celebrate.

We’re sorry Ben had to struggle with Ryan Pastorelle, Scott Largent, and Steve Lamb for some pizza. Congratulations Ben and Jessica!

TV Ads, 360 Degree Marketing, and Seals at Search Engine Strategies

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 5, 2007

Online Marketing Manager Steve Lamb recently returned from Search Engine Strategies in San Jose. This is the premier event for search engine marketing and optimization.

Steve is still trying to download all the information to his brain. But we know he will be applying the information he gathered for IdeaStar’s search engine marketing accounts.

“The biggest thing that I really already know, but didn’t really understand its importance, is that our clients really need to have a 360 degree approach to their marketing,” Steve says. “They MUST close the loop with search and online marketing if they want to reach their potential target audience.”

He was also impressed with Google TV Ads. It’s still in Beta, but it’s sure to cause quite a stir in the TV ads market.

It wasn’t all work though. Steve did have some time to take pictures.

Taken just to prove he was there….

Search Engine Giant Google hosted a dance and fair
for conference attendees. We’re not sure if Steve actually dunked the Google Guy.

So THAT’s why we couldn’t reach Steve….

Steve even had time to visit the ocean and take a few pictures of seals. Ork! Ork!
