Ten Questions for Ed Hammer

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 23, 2008

Inventor Ed Hammer, who works for IdeaStar client TCP Inc., the leading manufacturer of compact fluorescent lighting, was recently featured on The Consumer Reports blog in the 10 Questions For… column.  The bimonthly feature presents ten questions to a person of importance.

As the father of the compact fluorescent light bulb, Ed has some interesting points to make. His original bulb is in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.  If you are ever there, stop in and take a look.

IdeaStar is always amazed at the interesting people we work with.  Learn more about Ed and compact fluorescent lighting at his blog, Drop the Hammer.

Running for Cookies

Posted by IdeaStar @ September 8, 2008

On Sunday Sept 7 Becky Lovejoy and Whitney Zunic participated in the 9th Annual Cleveland Clinic Sports Health River Run. Their team, Running for Cookies, participated in the half marathon relay, with Whitney running the first part of the relay of 5.8 miles, and Becky meeting up with her at the exchange point to run the last part of 7.3 miles.

This was their first attempt at a half-marathon relay, and despite the rain it was a very enjoyable experience for them both! Their next adventure is the 17th Annual Towpath Marathon, Half & 10k on October 12, where they will both be participating in the 10k. There is still time to register if you are interested in running as well!

Posted by IdeaStar @ August 26, 2008

The ladies of IdeaStar decided to celebrate Christmas late for last year or early for next year.  We couldn’t decide which.  Anyway, we had a nice lunch with presents at Tinkers Creek Road Tavern.  Yum.

What\'s for lunch? Whitney, Becky, Niketa, and June enjoying the lunch hour out.

Awe Inspiring, Dream Invoking, Lyrical and Just Simply Amazing…

Posted by IdeaStar @ June 6, 2008

These are just a few phrases IdeaStar employee Brian Swan used to describe his recent trip to Hawaii! He traveled to the island of Oahu with his wife to see many wonderful sites and share lots of pictures with us! They visited Turtle Cove and attended a luau type performance. Other fun visits included Diamond Head, the Bonsai Pipeline and the famous estate from Magnum PI. Here are some of his favorite pictures:

Sounds (and looks) like Brian had an amazing time away from the real world! He says he can not wait to go back. He missed out on the diving and snorkeling this time, would love to visit the Big Island and also try to make it out to Kaui which is more rain forest and underdeveloped than all of the other islands. He has assured us there will be another Hawaii trip in his future!
